Self Contained Breathing Apparatus

A self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), is an apparatus worn by rescue workers, firefighters, and others to provide breathable air in a life or health atmosphere (IDLH) that is immediately dangerous. They are sometimes called industrial breathing sets if they are not used underwater. The term self-contained means that the breathing set is not dependent on a remote supply.
